Environmental

A constant effort in green practices to reduce the carbon footprint for a more sustainable future.

Woh Hup understands that the building and construction industry can participate more in global sustainability efforts. In view of that, we are committed to undertake measures to minimize negative impacts on the environment and reduce our carbon emissions. Therefore, we have Sustainability and Green Procurement policies in place which covers:

  • Compliance with laws, legislations and regulations
  • Conservation of natural resources
  • Minimize pollution to the environment
  • Purchase and use of more environmentally friendly products
  • Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
  • Maintain good housekeeping
  • Minimize inconvenience and disturbance to the public

In line with the policies, we have consistently implemented green and gracious practices across all our construction sites. Our efforts have been recognized by the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) where we have been awarded Green and Gracious Builder Award (GGBA) - STAR rating (highest possible category) – since 2010. In 2020, Woh Hup has been awarded the GGBA (Star Champion Award) – an award which was introduced to give recognition to builders that have consistently maintained highest rating (i.e. Star Rating) and have shown commendable green and gracious efforts.

Other than the GGBA, our offices - Woh Hup Building at Upper Bukit Timah Road and Technical Hub at Gul Street - have also achieved BCA Green Mark Platinum and GoldPlus award respectively. Aligned with our Sustainability Policy to reduce electrical consumption from the grid, both buildings have installed solar panel system to replace part of the total building electricity usage.

Our four-storey Technical Hub is one of the few buildings in Singapore constructed using prefabricated Mass Engineered Timber (MET) which are made from wood harvested from sustainably managed plantation. Prefabricated Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) elements were also adopted during construction of this building. These construction methods have improved our productivity and enabled us to reduce our carbon footprint.
