STAGES 4 AND 5 OF CIRCLE LINE 04/08/2004

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has awarded a civil works contract for Stages 4 and 5 of Circle Line (CCL) to Woh Hup Pte Ltd and joint venture partners- Shanghai Tunnel Engineering Co Ltd and Alpine Mayreder. The contract is worth S$399,910,000 and entails the construction and completion of Holland, Buona Vista and NUH Stations, including fit out works and tunnels for One-North Station.

CCL is a 33-km orbital line that will link all radial rapid transit system (RTS) lines running into the city. It will have 29 stations, including interchange stations with the North South, East West and North East lines. An underground, fully automated system, it will be built in five stages.

At 17-km long, Stages 4 and 5 of CCL will cost S$2.5 billion to build. It will have 13 stations, three of which will be built later. Stages 4 and 5 will connect to Stage 3 of CCL at Marymount Station and terminate at HarbourFront Station, which is the interchange station with the North East Line. Construction is targeted to start in the third quarter of 2004, and is expected to be completed by 2010.
