The twin flyovers, each 261 metres long, spanning Dunearn/Whitley Roads & Bukit Timah/Stevens Roads, were constructed, employing for the first time in Singapore, the incremental launch method of flyover/bridge construction; Each flyover was divided into 17 elements, varying in length from 6.5 metres to 18 metres. The elements were individually cast & cured in a covered extrusion bay, post-tensioned & progressively joined to the preceding element & pushed by means of two launching jacks, over temporary bearings on piers & abutments until the entire deck reached its final destination; The contract also included piling works to support the entire deck structure, temporary road diversions, three triple cell boxes culverts, concrete kerbs, flower boxes, railings & surfacing the deck.
