Civil & Structural Works

In an industry where results often speak for themselves, Woh Hup’s multi-faceted qualities and its ability to competently execute mega-sized, often technically challenging projects are undeniable. Branching out from our area of expertise as a high-rise builder in Singapore, we are now one of the leading players both in civil and building works.

Over the years, Woh Hup has carried out many different types of civil projects in the region, from deep tunneling sewage system and river protection to airport runways, offshore jetties and MRT lines.

Woh Hup's smooth execution of the Wayang Satu Flyover (1988) and the restoration of the Telok Ayer Market, later re-christened Lau Pa Sat Festival Market in 1989 gave the Company a niche and the recognition for being able to take on unusual projects that involved the use of new and innovative solutions, in particular, as the local pioneer in the use of the push-bridge construction method in the Wayang Satu Flyover project, Woh Hup was most honoured to be awarded the prestigious awards for Construction Excellence and Best Buildable Design.

As we stepped into the millennium, Woh Hup was awarded its first major underground project works - the Changi Tunnel DTSS. This was a deep sewer tunnel project and Woh Hup with its joint-venture Chinese partner, Shanghai Tunnel Engineering, were given the largest tunnel among all the DTSS contracts. It involved the design and construction of a giant 6-metre diameter tunnel over 5.8 km.

This was followed by the award of Woh Hup’s most ambitious civil engineering projects, the contracts to build the stations and tunnels of MRT Circle line (CCL) Stages C825 (2001), C852 (2003) and C855 (2004). The extensive scope of the contract covers the design, construction and completion of CCL Millenia, Convention Centre, Museum and Dhoby Ghaut stations and tunnels (C825); the construction and completion of Serangoon station and tunnels (C852) and the construction and completion of Holland, Buona Vista and National University Hospital (NUH) stations including kit-out works and tunnels for One-North station and tunnels (C855).
